HELD IN SWAY by Mirepoix Pictures was produced as part of the 48 Hour Film Competition in the summer of 2007. The contest, first held in 2001, took place in 60 cities worldwide; filmmaking teams created over 2200 films. Participants were given two days to write, produce, photograph and edit a short film in one of fourteen randomly chosen genres. HELD IN SWAY, a romance with a twist, captivated Cincinnati audiences winning awards for Best Direction, Musical Score and Cinematography as well as Best Film. The movie went on to the Cinequeste Festival in California where a jury selected the film as one of ten to represent the 48 Hour Project at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival and Market, one of the most prestigious, influential and exciting motion picture events in the world.

Cincinnati Film Competition Winner slated for Cannes.

Local filmmakers hope to raise the money to attend festival in France.

Held In Sway, winner of the 2007 Cincinnati 48 Hour Film Project, has been selected to screen at The 2008 Cannes Film Festival. The Festival de Cannes is regarded as one the most prestigious, influential and exciting motion picture events in the world. This year’s festival will take place May 14th – 25th in the beautiful and very expensive French Riviera. 35,000 film professionals are expected to attend.

Held In Sway was created by Mirepoix Pictures, a team comprised of three Wright State University alumni, Amy Cunningham, Mike Dittiacur, John Mays and Cincinnati filmmaker Russ Faust. The movie stars Howard Shook, also a WSU alumni, and Bronwynn Hopton of Columbus.

The competition takes place in 60 cities worldwide and requires the short film be made from scratch in 48 hours. Approximately 2300 films were made for the contest in 2007.
